Into The Storm (2014)
Rated PG-13
Starring Richard Armitage, Sarah Wayne Callies, Matt Walsh, Max Deacon, Nathan Kress
Directed by Steven Quale
The Story:
Tornadoes unlike any that have ever been seen before are converging on the town of Silverton on the day of the high school graduation. A group of storm chasers making a documentary is in pursuit. The town is gearing up for the ceremony and filming the happenings.
This is their found footage.
Ta-Da!
It's another movie that's a found footage film, without being a found footage movie.
Instead it's a fairly slick operation that bounces back between their stories (and a few other filmmakers) to create a Twister for the 21st century.
However, unlike Twister, you won't get as emotionally invested in any of these characters or their situations.
Now you see why I'm not naming who they are or what they are doing.
Instead, it's the CGI storms that are the star of the film.
Thankfully, there are no sharks in these tornadoes!
:)
Final Grade: C+
Rewatchability/Purchase Factor: One viewing was all I need.
